For my first time, I ordered three picks of different shapes to try out, all on the thin side for familiarity. Because of a listing mix-up/confusion, I was kindly given an extra for a total of four (great customer service!). All the picks were beautiful and played beautifully. As noted somewhere on this site, the stones can be more translucent than they appear in the photos. This pick is an example of that - I can easily read print through it and it has a wonderful grain. This pick is shaped and sized like a mandolin pick, which I play, electric and acoustic. It is thin and easy to get used to. If it were thicker, it would be very similar to a jazz pick feel, I think. I will use it with my old, round-back mandolins for more mandolinny, tinny, 'talian sounding music. I say tinny because it rhymes with mandolinny but in fact this pick still pulls out a great tone as stone picks do. At this point, I don't think I'll ever go back to a plastic or such pick unless it is all I have at the moment. I'm sold on stone picks and highly recommend them as well as this site.
